Payroll Manager | Fixed-Term Contract to March 2027

  • $125,000 - $130,000 + Super 

An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Payroll Manager to join a large, well-established organisation on a fixed-term contract through to March 2027, with the potential for extension.

This is a key leadership role where you'll take ownership of the end-to-end payroll function for more than 600 employees while leading and developing a high-performing team of three payroll professionals. You'll play a critical role in ensuring payroll accuracy, compliance, and operational excellence, while also contributing to a significant payroll transformation initiative.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead the end-to-end payroll function across two fortnightly payroll cycles
  • Manage, mentor, and support a team of three payroll professionals
  • Ensure the accurate and timely processing of payroll, including allowances, leave, back pay, and payroll variations
  • Oversee statutory compliance, including payroll tax, superannuation, ATO and ABS reporting requirements
  • Manage year-end payroll processes, reconciliations, and compliance reporting
  • Act as the subject matter expert and escalation point for complex payroll queries
  • Maintain payroll data integrity and support audit and reporting requirements
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance payroll efficiency and accuracy
  • Partner closely with HR, Finance, and key stakeholders to provide payroll insights and workforce reporting

About You

To be successful in this role, you'll bring:

  • Proven experience managing end-to-end payroll within a large or complex organisation
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, with a passion for developing and supporting teams
  • Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, taxation, superannuation, awards, and enterprise agreements
  • Experience working in high-volume and complex payroll environments
  • Advanced Excel skills, including formulas, VLOOKUPs, and data analysis
  • Experience using payroll systems such as Preceda or Dayforce (highly regarded)
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
