Payroll Manager | Fixed-Term Contract to March 2027

An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Payroll Manager to join a large, well-established organisation on a fixed-term contract through to March 2027, with the potential for extension.
This is a key leadership role where you'll take ownership of the end-to-end payroll function for more than 600 employees while leading and developing a high-performing team of three payroll professionals. You'll play a critical role in ensuring payroll accuracy, compliance, and operational excellence, while also contributing to a significant payroll transformation initiative.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead the end-to-end payroll function across two fortnightly payroll cycles
- Manage, mentor, and support a team of three payroll professionals
- Ensure the accurate and timely processing of payroll, including allowances, leave, back pay, and payroll variations
- Oversee statutory compliance, including payroll tax, superannuation, ATO and ABS reporting requirements
- Manage year-end payroll processes, reconciliations, and compliance reporting
- Act as the subject matter expert and escalation point for complex payroll queries
- Maintain payroll data integrity and support audit and reporting requirements
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance payroll efficiency and accuracy
- Partner closely with HR, Finance, and key stakeholders to provide payroll insights and workforce reporting
About You
To be successful in this role, you'll bring:
- Proven experience managing end-to-end payroll within a large or complex organisation
- Demonstrated leadership experience, with a passion for developing and supporting teams
- Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, taxation, superannuation, awards, and enterprise agreements
- Experience working in high-volume and complex payroll environments
- Advanced Excel skills, including formulas, VLOOKUPs, and data analysis
- Experience using payroll systems such as Preceda or Dayforce (highly regarded)
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
