We are currently seeking an experienced Community Engagement Officer to join a local government organisation for an immediate start on a contract expected to run for approximately 6–7 months .
This role will support the delivery of community engagement initiatives, stakeholder partnerships, and projects that promote inclusion, participation, and wellbeing for seniors, people with disability, and other community groups. The position will play an important role in implementing community development strategies, supporting advisory groups, and delivering meaningful community outcomes.
About the RoleReporting to the Coordinator Community and Cultural Engagement, you will work closely with internal teams, community organisations, government agencies, and stakeholders to assist in the planning, delivery, and evaluation of community programs, events, and engagement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, coordinate and promote community programs, projects, and special events, including initiatives supporting seniors and people with disability.
- Coordinate and facilitate advisory groups, community reference groups, stakeholder networks, and consultation forums.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with community organisations, government agencies, service providers, and other stakeholders.
- Support the delivery and ongoing review of community development, access and inclusion, and age-friendly initiatives.
- Undertake research, data collection, analysis, and report writing to support planning, policy development, and community outcomes.
- Prepare reports, briefing notes, correspondence, and program evaluations.
- Collaborate across multiple teams to achieve shared project objectives and community outcomes.
- Assist with the promotion of community services and engagement initiatives through appropriate communication channels.
To be successful in this position, you will demonstrate experience in:
- Community engagement and stakeholder relationship management.
- Planning, implementing, and evaluating community programs, projects, and engagement initiatives.
- Facilitating advisory groups, community networks, and consultation activities.
- Building partnerships and fostering community participation and capacity building.
- Research, data analysis, report writing, and project evaluation.
- Working collaboratively with diverse stakeholders to achieve positive community outcomes.

- Relevant qualification in Community Development, Community Services, Social Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Excellent interpersonal, facilitation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications and relevant business systems.
- Current driver's licence or ability to obtain one.
- National Police Clearance issued within the last 12 months.
- Ability to commence immediately.
