Assistant Financial Accountant

Our client is looking for an Assistant Financial Accountant for a 6-month maternity leave cover.

About the role
Reporting to the General Manager, Finance , you’ll support accurate and timely financial reporting, compliance and finance operations across the Group.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting month-end reporting, reconciliations and cash flow reporting.
- Managing corporate credit cards, payroll files and fundraising direct debit batches.
- Supporting BAS, FBT, grant acquittals and statutory reporting.
- Preparing audit schedules and supporting internal and external audits.
- Maintaining accurate financial records and compliance registers.
- Contributing to improved finance processes, systems and internal controls.
- Providing ad hoc financial and compliance support as required.
About you
You’re an organised and detail-focused accounting professional who enjoys working with numbers, solving problems and ensuring things are done accurately and on time.
You’ll bring:
- Relevant accounting qualifications or experience in a similar financial accounting role.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, reconciliations and month-end processes.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing deadlines.
- An understanding of Australian accounting, taxation and financial reporting requirements.
- The ability to identify opportunities to improve processes and strengthen financial controls.
Experience with BAS, FBT, government funding acquittals, audit processes or the NDIS/NDIA environment will be highly regarded.
